The site itself was a floodplain and had minimum requirements for habitable floor levels. Working with the client O'Connell's engaged with specialist a specialist hydraulic modelling consultancy, the flood defences in the village of Aylesford were resurveyed and it was subsequently proven that the site was less of a flood risk than predicted in the Environment Agencies models. As a result the client was granted permission to raise the levels of the 12 acre site by over 3m. O'Connell's engaged with local quarrys and hauliers in order to supply adequate volumes of infill material, constructing structural pads beneath habitable structures, and infilling roadways and gardens with suitable clay material. Approximately 150,000m3 of material was imported and compacted to specification.

Ashlin Quarter is a high-end residential development in Aylesford, Kent. O’Connell Contracting delivered all 3 phases of the development as the client's project manager as well the majority of sub-contract packages on the site; delivering 124 new houses and 16 new apartments. O’Connell’s are directly delivering all infrastructure, groundworks, brickwork, carpentry, and landscaping packages using in house labour and plant.
